About Elephant Foot Gallery creator Laura Novikas

Elephant Foot Gallery was founded by a European-born Laura Novikas from the small port city of Klaipeda, Lithuania. Growing up near the sea, she developed a deep appreciation for art and history, as she was deeply influenced by the events that shaped her country. She knows a lot about her family history, which is closely related to the history of Lithuania - her grandmother was deported to Germany from her mother's side, her great-grandfather was a Lithuanian partisan, her father painted frescoes, and her family has a rich artistic tradition.

 

Therefore, it is no surprise that she pursued a career in the art world. Driven by her passion for the emotional power of art, Elephant Foot Gallery's founder believes that art is a medium through which we can explore and express our emotions. She reads paintings like books, finding meaning and inspiration in every brush stroke. Her love for her husband took her to America, where she now resides as an American Lithuanian.

 

As she explains it: "Art is a moment of capturing the feeling that an artist wants to convey. Sometimes, I can read paintings like books and it excites me from the inside. Art is a way to confront and express every good or bad emotion you have - it's like therapy. I want to give people the feeling and knowledge of art, to make them feel it. Sometimes, even the smallest and simplest painting can give you peace and satisfaction, and when your thoughts stop at the painting, I want people to feel the freedom and take their dreams to a peaceful place. Paintings are what I will leave to my children 100%."
